Peshawar: A high-level delegation of the Regional Union of Journalists Pakistan led by its Central Senior Vice President Syed Tahir Ahmed Shah met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi. The meeting was attended by Central Secretary Information RUJ Shahzad Hussain Naqvi, KPK RUJ General Secretary Zahir Khan Bangash, and Provincial Secretary Information Sahibzada Munib Ahmed. The Governor was briefed in detail about the services and struggles being provided to journalists at the tehsil and district levels from the RUJ platform. On this occasion, Syed Tahir Ahmed Shah told the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that there is severe anxiety among journalists due to discrimination against regional journalists. Like journalists from big cities, regional journalists should be given journalist colonies at the district level. Money should be allocated for the marriage and educational scholarships of journalists’ children. Tehsil and district journalists should also be included in the health insurance policy. Accreditation and Journalists Support Fund committees should be appointed at the district level in which regional journalists should be represented. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi He said that the role of regional newspapers and local journalists in highlighting public issues and ensuring their resolution is not hidden from anyone. He said that he is fully aware of the problems of local journalists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, however, he will talk to the federal government and the Information Minister regarding all the issues being raised by them and will play his full role in ensuring their solution.
