Saudi Arabia is gearing up to launch its first luxury train service, set to traverse an 800-mile desert route. Dubbed the “Dream of the Desert,” the train is expected to begin operations in November 2025, connecting the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to the city of Qurayyat.
The project is a collaboration between Saudi Railways and Italy’s renowned Arsenale Group, celebrated for its expertise in luxury train services.
The train will feature 40 opulent carriages, offering passengers the option to book one or two-night tours. Along its route, the train will pass through some of Saudi Arabia’s breathtaking desert landscapes, showcasing the country’s natural beauty and rich heritage.
Designed primarily to attract international tourists, the luxury train service aims to provide an unparalleled travel experience. Passengers will have the chance to explore UNESCO World Heritage sites and the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Royal Natural Reserve in ultimate comfort.
According to Arsenale Group CEO Paolo Barletta, Saudi Arabia will be the first country to offer such a unique luxury train hospitality experience.
The project, estimated to cost $53 million, is set to redefine the concept of luxury travel, providing tourists and residents an extraordinary way to experience Saudi Arabia’s diverse regions.
