RIYADH: Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his willingness to extend his contract with Al Nassr on Monday. According to ESPN, the Saudi Arabian club have opened extension and new contract negotiations with their captain. It is worth noting that the current deal with the club will end in 2025 with the conclusion of the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League. The five-time Ballon d’Or has previously revealed his desire to continue with Saudi Arabia in an interview. “I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years, but I will probably retire here at Al Nassr. I am very happy in this club, I also feel good in this country. I am happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue to do so,” he said. Meanwhile, contract talks have taken place after the UEFA Player of the Year opened up about his plans to play until the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He will thus become the first player in football history to appear in six different editions of the prestigious event. The 900-goal scorer also scored the winner in Monday’s AFC Champions League clash against Al Rayyan of Al Qatar. The Portuguese captain responded to his X-handle after his win: “Hard work pays off. We keep going.” Al-Nassr is third in the points table with four points from two matches.
