LAHORE: As per directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, the mission to equip law enforcement agencies with advanced technology is fast approaching as the provincial cabinet has approved the purchase of 27 state-of-the-art quadcopters to enhance surveillance and counter-terrorism operations in the region.
According to a Home Ministry spokesperson, the Punjab Cabinet has approved the summary submitted by the Home Ministry for procurement of advanced quadcopters. A budget of 214 million PRs was approved for this contract.
Specifically, 20 surveillance quadcopters will be deployed in districts including Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan. In addition, seven cargo quadcopters will be assigned to Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan. These payload-capable quadcopters can launch two 80mm mortar rounds on a target in a single operation. Punjab Home Minister Noor ul Amin Mengal said that all necessary resources are being provided to fight terrorists and criminal elements. The purchase of advanced quadcopters is expected to significantly boost law enforcement efforts in Kacha and border areas.
