LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will launch ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program on August 14. On Sunday, it approved in principle three models of the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ programme.
The CM, who presided over a meeting here, stopped the authorities from collecting service charges from land owners. The model houses were developed as a pilot program of the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ initiative. The Prime Minister ordered to include the living room in the map of model houses. She ordered to introduce toll free numbers for the convenience of people.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a special portal for the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program through which candidates would be able to submit their applications online. Captain Housing (Retired) Asadullah Khan briefed about the programme.
The meeting was informed that the forms of ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ scheme can be obtained from the offices of Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners. Owners of land up to 5 marls would be able to get an interest-free loan to build their houses. Home owners would be given facility to repay the loan in easy installments as per Chief Minister’s instructions. Allottees of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) under PHATA Regulations 2002 would get 3 and 5 marla houses in private schemes.
Meanwhile, under the scheme, PHATA members will pay house installments within five years after buying a house in the private scheme. The Punjab government would also provide a subsidy to reduce the cost of housing in the private scheme. In this context, about 70,000 land owners in any city or town could take a loan. In the same way, the owner of a plot of land up to 5 marls could get an interest-free loan for the construction of a house. Important decisions were approved in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
