Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Myrat Ali Shah said that people are voting for Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) because it is the best party in the province.
It announced the Thar Coal Project, a major energy initiative to produce 7.8 million tonnes of coal annually.
Speaking at the Sindh Vision program in Karachi, Shah said the project is a catalyst for Pakistan’s energy landscape. He said the total cost of the project was $1.17 billion.
The Sindh CM said that the project is expected to generate 1320 MW of electricity from Thar Block-1, and an additional 100 MW of electricity will be supplied to Karachi from Naurabad Power Station.
The project will benefit 15 districts of Sindh and the Sindh government said it plans to plant more than 0.7 million trees in Thar to support the initiative.
Shah also said that a foundation has been established to provide healthcare and education facilities to local residents. Female engineers and truck drivers are part of the project which is a major step towards gender equality in the region, he said.
He concluded by saying that the Sindh government has established technical education institutes and universities in Thar and is working to develop green energy in the region.
