Islamabad: H.E. Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Mr. Muhammad Golam Sarwar, who is on his first visit to Pakistan, bid farewell to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Prime Minister congratulations Amb. Golam Sarwar has been appointed as the 15th Secretary General of SAARC. He expressed hope that the Secretary General will play his part in revitalizing the organization.
Note that the Prime Minister belongs to Bangladesh, the Prime Minister expressed his warm wishes for the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and expressed Pakistan’s desire to strengthen its bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
From a regional perspective, the Prime Minister said that SAARC has great potential for regional development, trade, cooperation and collaboration. He said he wanted to see SAARC become a vehicle for development and prosperity in the region.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the principles and objectives of the SAARC Charter and said that Pakistan would continue to play its role in strengthening the work of SAARC.
The Chief Secretary thanked the Prime Minister for the reception and expressed his desire to make SAARC an effective platform for regional cooperation. He also thanked the Prime Minister’s delegation for their warm hospitality.
