ISLAMABAD:- Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Wednesday that Hollywood film production on Pakistani culture will give people around the world an opportunity to know more about the country and show a gentle and positive image.
He said this during a meeting with members of the Hollywood production team who had visited Pakistan to shoot an international film on Pakistani culture.
He said that the film produced by the Hollywood production team will be a milestone for the Pakistani film industry.
During the meeting, a discussion was held on the cultural heritage and history of the country, including making a film based on Pakistani culture. The minister also informed the Hollywood production team about the progress in the film industry in the country.
He thanked the Hollywood production team for deciding to make a film on Pakistani culture. “It is a great honor for our culture and people,” he said, adding that Pakistan is a country rich in cultural heritage.
Highlighting the steps taken by the government to revive cinema, he said it was the only industry in Pakistan to benefit from tax amnesty.
“The Shehbaz Sharif-led government has restored the film policy of the past,” he said, adding that the film industry had been given industrial status so that youth could enter the sector.
He said that in the 2022-23 budget, about 1 billion dollars of film funding has been created. He also said that medical insurance for artists and tax incentives for the film industry have boosted the film industry and related industries.
He said that in the 2022-23 budget, a five-year tax incentive has been given to filmmakers. Similarly, a five-year income tax exemption for the establishment of new cinemas, production houses and film museums, and a ten-year tax exemption on the export of films and dramas.
He said that Pakistan has brought its story to the world through screen tours. The minister said that the government and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will provide full support and cooperation to the Hollywood production team.
The Hollywood production team thanked the minister for the cooperation and hospitality received in Pakistan.
They thanked the government, the people of Pakistan and the local film industry for their cooperation during their stay in Pakistan.
He said that they really enjoyed the visit and were very impressed by the beautiful places and heritage of Pakistan.
