LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved monthly stipends for 65,000 prayer leaders across the province, recognizing their vital social and spiritual role in communities. She made the announcement while presiding over a high-level meeting focused on improving governance, service delivery, and law and order in the provincial capital.
Maryam Nawaz directed provincial officials to ensure timely resolution of citizens’ grievances and enhance the quality of services provided to the public. She issued a stern warning that negligence or inefficiency in responding to public complaints would not be tolerated. The chief minister said the government’s initiative to provide stipends to prayer leaders is a step toward supporting those who serve at the grassroots level, strengthening their financial security while acknowledging their contribution to social harmony.
In a separate session devoted to reviewing the progress of Punjab’s e-business initiative, the chief minister was briefed on the latest developments in the project. Expressing her satisfaction, she instructed authorities to complete all formalities and launch the project within the next two weeks. She emphasized that all relevant departments must issue no-objection certificates (NOCs) through a single-window operation to ensure efficiency and convenience for applicants.
Maryam Nawaz also announced that pending e-business applications would be evaluated weekly to prevent delays, while a dedicated monitoring cell has been established within the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to track performance and resolve issues in real time.
Vowing to personally oversee the project’s progress every 15 days, she reiterated her government’s commitment to removing bureaucratic hurdles and accelerating digital reforms. “Real change happens when citizens receive their due rights without delay,” she remarked, highlighting that the e-business system aims to restore public confidence by simplifying processes and fostering transparency.
The chief minister added that Pakistan’s youth and entrepreneurs are full of potential, and digital governance initiatives like e-business can serve as a transformative force for economic growth and public empowerment.
