HOHHOT: The 1,000th China-Europe cargo train passed through Erenhot Port in northern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Sunday.
“It used to take at least seven to eight hours for cargo trains to enter through the procedure. After using the digital port system, customs clearance was shortened to two hours,” Wang Hongwen told the port.
The share of high-value and high-tech products such as cars, computers and robots increased by more than 40 percent. Since the beginning of this year, domestic car exports have risen to 12 percent of total exports, setting an all-time high, according to port data.
Erenhot Port is an important land port for exporting Chinese goods to Mongolia, Russia and Europe. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 1,100 Chinese-European cargo trains have passed through Erenhot Railway Port carrying 113,000 TEUs, an increase of 7.8 percent and 9.2 percent respectively, reaching a record high during that period.
