ISLAMABAD — In a landmark counter-narcotics operation, Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook has seized narcotics worth approximately USD 972 million while operating in the North Arabian Sea under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150), a multinational maritime security coalition.
The operation, conducted under the umbrella of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), marks one of the largest drug interdictions in the region and underscores Pakistan Navy’s growing role in safeguarding maritime borders and combating transnational crime.
CTF-150 is tasked with promoting maritime stability and deterring terrorism and illicit trafficking across international waters. PNS Yarmook’s successful interdiction reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to regional security and its reputation as a responsible maritime partner in the Indian Ocean.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised the crew of PNS Yarmook for their professionalism and resolve. “Pakistan Navy remains steadfast in its mission to protect national maritime interests and contribute to global peace through coordinated security efforts,” he said.
Admiral Ashraf also noted that the operation would bolster interoperability between Pakistan and Saudi naval forces, further strengthening bilateral defence ties.
The seizure is being hailed as a significant achievement in the global fight against narcotics trafficking and a testament to Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness and international collaboration.
