On October 13, the Baku Military Court resumed hearings in the ongoing Armenian war crimes trial. Prosecutors charged several Armenian citizens with war crimes, genocide, and crimes against peace and humanity.

During the session, prosecutors revealed secret military documents from the Armenian armed forces. Court officials displayed photographs of these documents, which showed that Armenia’s military leadership had assigned combat tasks to its armed formations. These included the so-called “army,” which operated on Azerbaijani territories that Armenia previously occupied.

One key document, Order No. 0119, dated May 4, 2016, bore the signature of Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov, then Chief of the General Staff. He instructed commanders to fortify anti-tank ditches and trench systems in the “6th Defense District.” He also ordered them to integrate defenses with the “9th Defense District” and conceal military vehicles within battle formations.

Another document, Joint Secret Order No. 016, dated December 24, 2016, came from Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan and Colonel V. Sargsyan, who led the Intelligence Department. They outlined a mission for the 24th Special Purpose Separate Radio Technical Regiment. The unit had to inspect strategic locations in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Sugovushan between January 10–14, 2017. Their goal was to identify suitable positions for radio-electronic reconnaissance (REK) units. Armenia’s military intelligence chief oversaw the mission.

The trial continues as Azerbaijani authorities pursue charges against Armenian nationals for terrorism, genocide, and violations of international humanitarian law. Officials argue that these crimes occurred during Armenia’s military aggression in the region.

As the court examines more evidence, the case highlights the depth of military planning behind the operations. Legal experts expect further disclosures in upcoming sessions, which may strengthen Azerbaijan’s claims and clarify the scope of Armenia’s wartime actions.
