Haripur (Javed Khan)– In a major legal breakthrough, the court has announced the Abbottabad cybercrime verdict in case FIR No. 14/2024, filed by the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency, Abbottabad. The case involved online harassment of women through Facebook and WhatsApp, marking a significant moment in Pakistan’s cyber enforcement efforts under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA).
Sameera Bukhari, a resident of Abbottabad, lodged the complaint against Zubair and Zeeshan, both residents of Manki, Swabi. Senior Civil Judge Judicial Abbottabad, Muhib ur Rehman, sentenced Zubair to five years in prison and fined him Rs 100,000. Investigators confirmed that Zubair had harassed women abroad using fake social media accounts while residing in Qatar.
Following the FIR, the Cybercrime Agency launched a swift operation. Authorities arrested Zeeshan from Swabi for helping create and operate the fake Facebook account. Surveillance teams later tracked Zubair’s travel plans and detained him at Peshawar Airport upon his return from Qatar.
Sub-Inspector Syeda Pakiza of the FIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre Abbottabad led the investigation. She professionally managed all stages—from gathering digital evidence to executing arrests—highlighting the growing role of women in law enforcement and digital forensics.
The court also sentenced Zeeshan to 40 days in prison and fined him Rs 10,000. A spokesperson confirmed that mobile phones, social media accounts, and other digital assets were seized and sent for forensic analysis. Charges included harassment, blackmail, and identity fraud—serious offenses under PECA.
According to officials, the Abbottabad cybercrime verdict sends a strong message: misuse of social media will not go unpunished. The Cybercrime Agency urged victims to report incidents promptly for swift action.
