After bearing brutal torture for around a month, a Mirpur Bathoro man, Gulan Tharani, died in the captivity of bandits operating in the riverine area of northern Sindh. Sources within the family of the deceased confirmed the news of his death, appealing to the Sindh government to ensure the release of his corpse.
The sister of the deceased revealed that the bandits had demanded 5 million rupees for returning the dead body of their brother, who succumbed to torture in captivity. She further disclosed that the children of the deceased were reeling under mental agony for the past many days, and their family was not capable enough to pay such a hefty amount as ransom.
The relatives of the deceased mentioned that the robbers had demanded the same amount for the release of Gulan Tharani, but they could not pay due to destitution. They feared that the cruel bandits would desecrate the body of the deceased or it would decompose if not recovered early. They urged IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, and the Chief Minister of Sindh to facilitate the recovery of Tharani’s corpse.
