Government Employees in Shangla Reject Budget, Take to the Streets

In Shangla, government employees have staged a protest against the federal and provincial budgets, deeming them anti-employee. The employees, under the banner of All Government Employees Grand Alliance, marched from Primary School Alpuri to Shangla Press Club, voicing their demands.

30% Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA)*: Employees are demanding the implementation of a 30% DRA, as promised by the government.
Teacher Upgradation*: Approval for teacher upgradation is a key demand.

Rejection of Pension Reforms*: Employees have rejected pension reforms and the CP Fund scheme.

Inflation-Based Salary and Pension Increase*: Employees are demanding a salary and pension increase in line with inflation. The protest was led by various employee unions, including the All Government Employees Grand Alliance, Clerks Association, and Class Four and Driver Union. Speakers at the protest rally criticized the government’s anti-employee policies and warned of severe consequences if their demands are not met. The government has yet to respond to the employees’ demands. However, the employees are determined to continue their protest until their demands are met. The outcome of the protest remains to be seen, but it is clear that the employees will not back down without a fight.
