A heart-wrenching incident occurred in the outskirts of Ghazi Tehsil, where a young boy tragically drowned while bathing in the Indus River, casting a shadow of grief over the entire locality. According to details, 12 to 13-year-old Sameer Ali, son of Shoukat Ali and a resident of the village Aldo, had gone to bathe in the river near the Khallo area. Unfortunately, due to the strong current and deep waters, he lost balance and was swept away.
Local residents immediately launched a rescue operation on a self-help basis and managed to recover the child’s body from the river, later handing it over to the bereaved family. Eyewitnesses stated that the incident occurred suddenly, and those nearby attempted an immediate rescue, but regrettably, the child could not be saved. The tragic event has plunged the entire area into mourning, and residents have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss.
Locals have strongly urged the district administration to take urgent safety measures at hazardous spots along the Indus River. Public demands include the installation of warning signboards, activation of regular river patrols, and deployment of trained rescue personnel. Community members emphasized that if timely and adequate safety precautions had been in place, this precious life might have been saved. They called upon the authorities to adopt an effective strategy to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
