In response to allegations of petrol theft at the Tarbela Dam Water Wing, the WAPDA administration has taken prompt action, with security personnel overseeing the unloading of petrol from oil tankers. The WAPDA administration has initiated reform measures following serious reports of corruption and petrol theft during the supply of petrol via oil tankers to the Tarbela Dam Water Wing. According to reliable sources, after recent media reports and revelations, WAPDA authorities have sprung into action, and under the supervision of security agencies, monitoring of oil tankers has commenced.

Yesterday, the unloading of petrol from an oil tanker at the WAPDA petrol pump was carried out entirely under the surveillance of security personnel, ensuring that no petrol was diverted for illegal sale. WAPDA security staff were present to meticulously review the performance of the staff involved. It is noteworthy that last week, an oil tanker was found to have 700 liters of petrol, which brought the issue to light.

According to reports, this alleged corruption had been ongoing for several years, with suspicions of involvement from the petrol pump staff, transport section, and tanker drivers. Although WAPDA has yet to issue an official statement, the current actions are seen as a response to the report published in the media and the impact it has generated. Public and social circles have commended the swift action taken by the WAPDA administration and have called for a transparent and impartial investigation, urging that those responsible be brought to justice. There is also a demand for the Chairman of WAPDA to be informed of the matter so that stringent measures can be taken to curb the misappropriation of national resources and restore the institution’s reputation.
