A long-standing dispute over access to water and pathway rights escalated into violence in the Danda Sar Dan area of Tehsil Matta, Swat, leaving six people injured, including women. Police have registered a case and arrested two suspects. According to Additional SHO ChUprial Police Station, Abdul Kalam Khan, the incident occurred when family members of complainant Aman Khan — including Jamila daughter of Painda Muhammad, Ataullah and Zaheerullah sons of Painda Muhammad, Sahiba wife of Aman Khan, and Hunra wife of Hadi Khan — went to fetch water from a nearby government well.

During this, the accused Syed Bacha and his sons Majid and Azmat allegedly stopped them from collecting water. The argument quickly turned into a physical altercation, followed by an exchange of gunfire. As a result, all members of Aman Khan’s family sustained injuries, while the opposing party’s Syed Bacha was also wounded. Police registered an FIR at Chaprial Police Station and launched an immediate operation, arresting two of the accused. Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the clash was a long-running dispute over access to the water source and a shared pathway. Further investigation is underway.
