UoP Launches Youth Facilitation Centre to Empower Girl Students

Peshawar: The University of Peshawar has commenced its adolescent youth facilitation spaces centre to empower girl students at college of Home Economics on Tuesday afternoon. The Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof.Dr.Muhammad Naeem Qazi and representative Directorate of Professional Training Safia Noor together launched the centre together.
This initiative has been possible after United Nations Population Fund and School of Leadership Foundation together has launched the second centre on Tuesday after Quetta and next in Islamabad, in coming week.
The centre would be offering its services through six prong strategy involving life skilled based education, counselling services, Gender inclusive environments, community engagements through volunteer work, recreational activities and holding social & cultural events.

Speaking on the eve, Principal College of Home Economics Prof.Dr.Shazia Ghulam Muhammad terming new spaces for girls as a bold step by UNFPA and SOLC, endorsing education and empowerment under one roof .
The Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof.Dr.Muhammad Naeem Qazi congratulated college to have a beautiful space for wonderful purpose. He pointed out the initiative a right step in the right direction to accommodate a section whose silence speaks volumes .
Representing SOLC, Maryam Irfan assured the University of Peshawar administration to make the space sustainable through corporate social responsibility , generating grants , generating digital revenue, offering paid workshops, co-work spaces and trainings in near future after its initial life cycle completion. She assured that the spaces would be a place for girls to transform and dream,grow,and thrive and reimagine what is impossible.
Commissioner Afghan refugees Muhammad Shakil khan Safi congratulated the university for having this facility and extends its cooperation for other entities of khyberPakhtunkhwa.
Safia Noor ,the chief guest on the occasion, called upon the partners to go for media literacy programs and building the social values to offset negative tendencies beleaguered today’s youth.
Additional Secretary Sports and youth affairs Abdullah Shah thanked the event organisers for giving inspirational thematic development of young girls where they would utilise its in their department for coming year.
It is worthy to mention that the University of Peshawar entered in an agreement to build AYFS in October where a centre has been renovated and established through two months time through murals and designed by college students ,partly.
