A 77-year-old slice of the wedding cake from the late Queen Elizabeth II’s marriage has been auctioned.
According to foreign media, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were married on November 20, 1947, and a massive cake weighing approximately 277 kilograms was presented at the event.
The cake slice was preserved in a box that included a silver emblem associated with Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth), a letter from the bride, and a decorative doily.
This special box was gifted by the royal couple to Marion Paulson, who was in charge of maintaining Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
The rare piece of cake was auctioned by auction house Reeman Dansie, fetching $2,831.
