A 61-year-old Canadian grandmother, Donna Jean Wilde, has reportedly broken the women’s world record for holding a plank position, maintaining the challenging exercise for five consecutive hours.
According to reports, Wilde achieved the feat on October 4 during the Huntsman World Senior Games in Utah, United States. The grandmother of 12 grandchildren began the plank at 3:03 p.m. and completed it at 8:03 p.m., sustaining the position for exactly five hours.
Judges monitored her performance at different intervals throughout the attempt to ensure that she maintained the required position.
However, official confirmation of her latest achievement by Guinness World Records is still pending. The record should therefore be considered an unconfirmed claim until the organisation formally approves it.
Wilde’s reported accomplishment highlights extraordinary endurance, physical strength and determination, demonstrating that age does not necessarily prevent people from pursuing demanding fitness goals.
