A six-year-old girl from China has set a world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube at remarkable speed, according to reports.
Lian Yunxi, from Chengdu in Sichuan province, achieved the record during competitions held in Wuhan and Guangzhou over three days. She solved the cube five times across the events, recording average times of 4.52 seconds and 4.27 seconds in the respective competitions.

Her performances made Lian the fastest female Rubik’s Cube solver in the reported category, surpassing the previous record of 5.97 seconds set by Sishan Kao in 2023 at the age of six.
Lian had reportedly spent the past year practising for two to three hours a day to improve her speed and technique.
Her mother, Lin Yangxi, said she introduced her daughter to Rubik’s Cube solving and gradually recognised it as an activity that could help develop a child’s concentration and cognitive skills.
She said the activity can help improve focus, memory and logical thinking while encouraging a disciplined approach to problem-solving.
Lian’s record has drawn attention to the growing popularity of speedcubing among young competitors and the level of practice required to achieve competitive times at an early age.
