Chakwal: A mass marriages ceremony held for 31 underprivileged girls under the Punjab government’s “Dhee Rani” program, initiated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The event was attended by Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Haider Ali Khan, and other dignitaries.
In his address, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan highlighted the program’s vision, which aims to support families in need by organizing collective marriages. He praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s efforts to provide meritorious scholarships, laptops, and motorcycles to deserving students. He also mentioned the government’s initiatives in healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
The “Dhee Rani” program provides a comprehensive support package to underprivileged girls, including a dowry worth PKR 166,000, PKR 40,000 for wedding expenses, and PKR 100,000 through an ATM card. The program aims to support 3,000 deserving girls across Punjab.
The ceremony concluded with a prayer led by Maulana Abdul Aleem Naqshbandi, followed by a gift presentation to the newlyweds and a meal for the guests.
