ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has completed its latest sub-national polio vaccination campaign, with more than 29.3 million children receiving polio drops across 113 districts, according to details released by the National Emergency Operations Centre.

More than 273,000 frontline workers participated in the campaign, which was conducted across several parts of the country.

According to the campaign figures, Punjab vaccinated more than 9.07 million children across 11 districts, while Sindh administered polio drops to approximately 11.4 million children in 30 districts.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, around 7.2 million children were vaccinated across 37 districts.

Meanwhile, approximately 2.3 million children received polio drops in 32 districts of Balochistan.

In Islamabad, vaccination teams administered polio drops to around 443,000 children.

The campaign also covered two districts in Gilgit-Baltistan, where approximately 140,000 children were vaccinated.

The National Emergency Operations Centre said security challenges affected access to children in parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the difficulties faced by vaccination teams in some areas.

The participation of more than 273,000 frontline workers underscored the scale of the nationwide effort to protect children against polio and prevent the spread of the disease.
