RAWALPINDI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested 28 alleged suspects, including 24 men and four women, during a crackdown on an online fraud call center in Rawalpindi.
Several computers and mobile phones were seized during the operation. According to the NCCIA, the suspects allegedly used Telegram and fake Facebook profiles to deceive citizens and lure them into fraudulent e-commerce and investment schemes.
The agency said the suspected network caused financial losses to victims through the alleged scams.
Suspected Foreign Mastermind
According to the NCCIA, the call center was allegedly operated by a Chinese national believed to be the mastermind behind the network. The suspect reportedly fled before the raid, and efforts are underway to arrest him.
The arrested individuals allegedly include Pakistani employees working for the network. Investigators are also working to identify and apprehend other people linked to the operation.
The NCCIA said the action was taken in Rawalpindi under FIR No. 1916/2026, with provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code included in the case.
Further investigation into the alleged online fraud network is underway.
