João Marinho Neto, a 112-year-old Brazilian citizen, has been officially recognized as the world’s oldest living man.
The title was awarded to João on November 26, following the passing of the previous record holder, John Teneswood, who died at the age of 112 on November 25. According to Guinness World Records, João, at 112 years and 52 days old, became the world’s oldest living man.
João was born on October 5, 1912, in Maranguape, Brazil. He is now the only living man born in 1912.
Guinness World Records reports that João was born into a farming family and started working in the fields with his father at the age of four. His duties included caring for livestock and picking fruits from trees.
João has six living children, 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He attributes his long life to surrounding himself with good people and keeping his loved ones close.
It is worth noting that the title of the world’s oldest living person belongs to a Japanese woman, Tomiko Itooka, who was born on May 23, 1908, and is currently 116 years old.
