Eleven employees have been dismissed from the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) following the discovery of financial irregularities.
According to the PKLI administration, the employees were terminated due to corruption, as they were found extorting money from patients and their families under the pretext of offering free treatment.
Complaints were lodged by patients and their families against coordinators from various departments, prompting the administration to initiate an investigation. The institutional inquiry confirmed allegations of corruption and abuse of authority against the accused employees.
The administration further stated that legal action has been initiated against seven of the dismissed employees by referring the cases to the Anti-Corruption Department.
