Paris: Alexander beat Australian 11th seed Alex de Minaur 6-4, 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 on Wednesday to reach his fourth consecutive French Open semifinal.
German Zverev has won 11 matches since winning the Rome title last month but has yet to reach the final at Roland Garros.
“I’m happy to be in another semifinal. I hope I can win one,” said Zverev, who beat 14-time champion Rafael Nadal in the first round of this year’s tournament.
Zverev lost in straight sets to Ruud in the semifinals of the 2023 French Open.
Zverev played in the shadow of a trial taking place in Berlin, where he was accused of assaulting his former daughter.
