Eid al-Fitr takes place in the corridors of Lahore Children’s Hospital, where the air often echoes with the sounds of medical aid and whispers of hope. Despite the challenges faced by elderly patients and their families, a spirit of celebration and patience permeated the hospital.
Decorated with colorful decorations and Eid al-Fitr greetings, the hospital became a sanctuary of happiness and hospitality. Led by Dr. Ammara Fayaz who is known as Dr. Ain Fay, a Youth Care volunteer organized a day full of laughter, fun and good times.
“The point of the holiday is to spread happiness, especially in difficult times,” said Dr Ain Fay, stressing the importance of raising spirits during the Eid season.
One of the highlights of the day was the public performance of the game in the hospital lobby, where patients and their parents agreed to enjoy the joy of playtime. Remote-controlled cars roll by, Mickey Mouse kisses young faces, and team members engage in friendly competition to create magical fun.
“It’s sad to see children just forget their health problems and embrace the joy of the festival,” said Ahmad, a volunteer at Youth Concern.
At Lahore Children’s Hospital, Eid-ul-Fitr not only brings smiles to young patients and their families, but is also a testament to the power of collective action to create positive change. Over the past year, Youth Concern has continued to brighten the lives of those in need, spreading hope and healing to the communities it serves.
Founded in 2013 as a non-profit organization, Youth Concerns has been spreading joy and hope through Eid gifts and celebrations every year for the past ten years. In addition, the organization has been actively involved in public health initiatives such as organizing a medical camp to test for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and AIDS.
Dr Aine Fay looks forward to her 10th birthday and shares her inspiring vision for the future. In an effort to welcome young patients on Eid, Youth Concerns plans to launch food carts in the coming months, providing free meals to the poor. These initiatives include the organization’s commitment to community service and fostering a culture of compassion and support.
