Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani received a threatening message targeting his son MNA Ali Musa Gilani on his mobile phone.
Police said a case was registered at Cantt police station on Musa’s complaint. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the message sent to Yusuf’s phone contained threats about his son.
The complainant said that between May 16 and 17, her father received threatening messages on her mobile number in the middle of the night.
According to law enforcement officials, the location of the number that sent the threatening message was traced to Khanewal district in Punjab.
Police said they have formed a team under Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt Tahir Majid to investigate the matter and trace the informant.
Musa was elected to the National Assembly in the general election on February 8. He won from NA-151 Multan 4 in the general election.
In 2013, Yusuf’s other son, Ali Haidar Gilani, was abducted from near his hometown in Multan before the general election.
A gunman on a motorcycle shot Haider before fleeing in a black Honda car. The Secretary of State and his assistant were killed and four others were injured.
After the abduction, Haider campaigned for the Pakistan People’s Party (PHP) to win a provincial seat in the parliamentary elections. He won the last election for the Punjab Assembly seat.
He was freed in May 2016, three years after he was kidnapped by Afghan and US security forces during a raid on al-Qaeda militants in Afghanistan.
