Karachi: YouTuber Asirasir Shami, accused of spreading a viral video of late Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, surrendered in court on Thursday.
The trial, which attracted wide attention, came to a conclusion after Shami appeared in the Karachi City Court.
Despite the seriousness of the charges against him, Shami was released on bail after posting $2.5 million in bail. The court’s bail order came on Shami’s direction to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to present himself and give a statement related to the case.
The development follows several summons issued by the court after Shami’s repeated appearance in the trial. The lawyer emphasized the importance of Shami continuing the case, while Sarkar’s lawyer insisted that the arrest warrant was issued because he was not determined.
Dr Aamir Liaquat has witnessed the participation of many people, including the accused Daniya Shah, who is out on bail in the legal battle related to Hussain’s viral video.
Shah’s representative, Liaqat Gabol, said Shami played a key role in the process, and his actions were responsible for the delay.
Looking ahead, the next hearing on May 23 promises to be very important, as evidence will be presented on whether to grant bail to Shami’s prisoner. Further, the legal situation will evolve with the surrender of the other accused in the case and the amended charge sheet will be filed in the upcoming trial.
