LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Minasmin Rasheed on Tuesday questioned the “fake government” that removed the judges handling the cases of him and his party members.
“An innocent man has been arrested again on bail. This is not justice; this is a political vendetta and PTI has been victimized for a year,” said the jailed PTI leader in a letter to the Chief Justice. Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa.
He said, it has been a year since the incident of May 9 and the women from his party are still imprisoned.
Dr Rasheed also asked the “fake government” why the police were not involved in the case file and where the prosecution went when it was their turn to present arguments.
As they have been waiting for justice for more than a year, he asked the Chief Justice to make a bench on May 9.
Dr Rashid was jailed for months amid clashes with law enforcement agencies across the country following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in connection with the May 9 anti-government protests at Lahore’s Sherpao Bridge.
After the riots and repeated arrests, many PTI leaders, workers and supporters remained behind bars or were re-arrested in various protest cases.
PTI Chairman and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi are currently under arrest in connection with the cipher case, while other leaders have been booked in various courts in connection with the May 9 violence. country
Riots erupted across the country on May 9 following the arrest of the sacked prime minister over the £190m scandal. Hundreds of PTI workers and senior leaders were arrested for violence and attacks on military installations.
During the protest, miscreants targeted civilian and military facilities – Jinnah House and General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The military called May 9 “Black Day” and decided to try the protesters under martial law.
