SWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Co-Operative Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai has said that the livestock sector is of great importance. It gives employment and meets the nutritional of large population of the province. This is the reason why the present provincial government is taking vigorous steps for the improvement of this sector and all the resources are being used to solve the problems of cattle herders. He expressed these views on Tuesday while Addressing the briefing meeting held at the Livestock department Peshawar.
On this occasion, Director General Livestock Dr. Asal Khan, Director General Livestock Research Dr. Ijaz Ali, DG Fisheries Shafi Marwat and other relevant officers were also present.
In the meeting, DG Livestock Extension briefed the Provincial Minister in detail about the ongoing projects of the department, especially the schemes included in ADP and the new projects including animal treatment programs, during briefing provincial minister Fazal Hakeem expressed keen interest in the briefing, the Provincial minister sought details from the officials regarding the government veterinary farms in the province, the number of animals and the facilities provided to the cattle rearers and directed that superior breeds should be introduced to increase milk and meat production. Strong measures should be taken to increase the number of animals, especially Achai cow, Azakheli buffalo and other local breed animals.
He further said that problems of the farmers related to the livestock sector should be solved in time so that they can cope with prosperity and play their role in stabilizing the economy of the province.
Later, Provincial minister for Livestock , Fisheries and Cooperative formally inaugurated the plantation campaign by planting saplings in the premises of the Livestock Department building.
