United States Ambassador Donald Blome attended a key meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday, where he emphasized American support for economic reforms in Pakistan.
In a statement, acting spokesman for the US mission, Thomas Montgomery, emphasized the comprehensive nature of the dialogue, saying the two diplomats addressed key areas including regional security, trade and investment relations and the continued importance of the US-Pakistan Green Alliance framework.
Regional security emerged as a focal point, with both sides recognizing the need for joint efforts in ensuring stability in the region. The potential for strengthening trade and investment ties was also a central theme, underscoring the mutual benefits of fostering stronger economic cooperation.
Ambassador Blome reiterated the unwavering commitment of the United States to work with the government and people of Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistan’s prosperity and security remain the primary interests of the United States and reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Foreign Minister Dar and reaffirmed the indispensable strategic partnership of cooperation for the progress and prosperity of the two countries.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar claimed that the partnership between the two countries is an “anchor of regional peace and stability”.
The foreign minister “reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to make joint efforts to further deepen bilateral relations and advance Phase II of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as envisioned by the leadership of the two countries.”
Ambassador Jiang echoed the sentiments and emphasized the special importance China attaches to Pakistan and its firm support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development and industrial and agricultural cooperation. He also agreed with the foreign minister on the quality development of CPEC Phase-II.
