Chakwal: Assistant Professor Dr. Ghufran Ahmed of the University of Chakwal has been dismissed from his job due to multiple allegations of misconduct, which were proven true after an investigation by the syndicate of five-member committee.
The allegations against Dr. Ahmed included corruption, bribery, and harassment of a female professor. He was also accused of entering a female professor’s class without permission, misbehaving with other faculty members, and demanding money and a plot from a student.
Dr. Ahmed was appointed as Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Chakwal on April 7th, 2022, and was made the head of the Law Department. However, his tenure was marred by multiple complaints, including allegations of drug trafficking.
Although the Monitoring Committee for Drugs Control did not find evidence to support the drug trafficking allegations, Dr. Ahmed faced other charges, including harassing female students and beating up a citizen named Zakaria.
The syndicate’s five-member committee, which included MPA Mehwish Sultana and Additional Secretary Higher Education Department Zahida Azhar, investigated the allegations and recommended Dr. Ahmed’s dismissal.
The syndicate’s decision also directed Dr. Ahmed to apologize to the students and faculty members. However, Dr. Ahmed has denied all allegations and plans to appeal the decision in court, stating that the committee did not give him a chance to prove the allegations false.
