Islamabad: The delegation of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) called on Mrs. Rubina Khalid, Head of the Benazir Income Program at the BISP headquarters led by the Country Representative Abdullah Fadil. The meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between BISP and UNICEF to improve the health and nutrition of women and children in Pakistan.
Rubina Khalid said she is committed to raising awareness about the Nashonuma program, which aims to address nutritional problems among women and children. He said awareness plays an important role in addressing various health and nutrition issues, especially for vulnerable populations.
BISP and UNICEF must work together to ensure the well-being of our community.”
Mr. Abdullah appreciated Fadil Benazir’s income support program initiative and appreciated the program’s impressive effectiveness, targeted assistance and financial literacy among beneficiaries. Benazir stressed the importance of the role of income support programs in improving the socio-economic status of the most vulnerable sections of society.
“We must work together to find practical solutions for the malnourished community, especially women and children,” said Mr. Fadil. “BISP’s efforts to better target and promote financial literacy are commendable and I look forward to continued cooperation to achieve these goals.”
The UNICEF delegation included key representatives: Anteneh Girma Minas, Head of Nutrition; Sadaf Zulfiqar, Social Policy Specialist; Dr. Noren Arshad, Nutrition Officer; Dr. Visal Khan, nutritionist; Larissa Bruun, Head of Resource Mobilization; and program specialist Sinyi Ge. The group met BISP Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad and DG NSER / CCT Mr. Naveed Akbar to discuss the strategic direction and operational aspects of their joint efforts.
