LAHORE: Babar left the first ball, a plunging swinger on the fourth line of off stump that went for a length, but the ball whizzed past the top off stump.
Ubaid held his head in his hands indicating that he had almost made Babar make a mistake. He also edged the outside edge to Fakhar, who was trying to defend the cork.
Perhaps the highlight of his intense training was another ball. Attempting to pull off an awkward length, Babar took a nasty hit to the ribs and writhed in pain after mishitting the shot.
Ubaid was named in the ICC 2024 Under-19 World Cup squad for the tournament. He took 18 wickets in six matches, including a sensational five-wicket haul against Bangladesh, helping Pakistan defend 155 and successfully secure their place in the semi-finals.
It should be noted that Pakistan’s busy schedule will begin with a two-Test home series against Bangladesh in August, which will also be newly appointed coach Jason Gillespie’s first red-ball series.
England travel to Pakistan for three Tests in Multan (October 7–11), Karachi (October 15–19) and Rawalpindi (October 24–28) and the West Indies land two Tests in Karachi (October 16– 20) and Multan (24–28 January).
