The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has nominated a mother of three for the ‘Miss Universe 2024’ competition, marking the first time such a nomination has been made. The model selected to represent the UAE is not only married but also a mother of three children.
Previously, only unmarried models between the ages of 18 and 28 were allowed to participate in the Miss Universe pageant. However, in 2023, restrictions regarding age, height, weight, and marital status were lifted to create a platform for empowering women.
According to foreign media reports, 27-year-old Amelia Dobreiva, who has been residing in the UAE for the past 10 years, will wear an abaya during the clothing round as a tribute to the UAE. Amelia shared that the lower part of the abaya would contain genuine sand from the country, while the upper part will reflect the country’s modernity. She said the dress would truly represent the UAE, showcasing how the country has built a modern nation from the sand.
