RAWALPINDI: Two soldiers were martyred in a suicide bomb blast on a convoy of security forces in Dera Ismail Khan, the military’s media wing said on Friday. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a suicide bomber exploded in a convoy on March 21 (Thursday).
“As a result, two brave sons of the soil, Naib Subedar Yasir Shakeel, 38, a resident of Kohat district, and Sepoy Tahir Naveed, 34, a resident of Kohat district, have accepted shahadat (martyrdom),” ISPR said.
The Army’s media wing said that Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen their resolve. “Furthermore, the perpetrators of this cowardly attack will be brought to justice,” it said.
Meanwhile, security forces on Thursday conducted an intelligence operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district during which one terrorist was killed and two others sustained injuries, ISPR said. According to the army’s media wing, the operation was carried out on the night of March 20-21.
During the IBO the troops effectively hit the terrorist locations and as a result, militant Chakar Liaquat was killed while two were injured. Security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the slain terrorist, who was “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities,” according to the ISPR.
