ISTANBUL: Turkish government have detained scores of suspects over alleged links with Islamic country group jihadists in a national sweep ahead of recent yr celebrations, the indoors minister stated on Saturday.
Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Ali Yerlikaya said that 189 suspects have been detained as a part of simultaneous operations dubbed “HEROES-38” finished in 37 cities which includes Istanbul.
Twenty-seven suspects had been detained within the capital Ankara on my own and 22 in Istanbul, he said.
Turkey has in current months intensified operations against IS jihadists who have claimed some of deadly attacks on Turkish soil which include the January 1, 2017 attack on a nightclub in Istanbul which killed 39 human beings.

On Friday, Turkish safety forces detained 32 IS suspects such as 3 senior participants who have been planning attacks on churches and synagogues in addition to the Iraqi embassy.
