Mr. Adam Khan Wazir, a progressive farmer of village Spin, Wana has cultivated a vertical tomato crop in a walk-in tunnel with the support of the Agriculture Extension Department South Waziristan.
The Agriculture Department has provided inputs under the AIP scheme, “integrated Agriculture Development in merged areas. In addition, the field staff of the agri department is also providing technical support. Recently, on the direction of Dr. M. Anwar Bettani, District Director Agriculture South Waziristan, Mr. Habib ur Rehman Agriculture Officer Wana visited the said tunnel. He inspected the crop. The crop was in good condition. The Agri Officer gave useful instructions for obtaining good yield from the crop. Vertical net farming is a modern technique for vegetable cultivation especially tomatoes.
In this technique production could be increased manifold. In addition, quality vegetables are obtained. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Adam Khan is a progressive farmer. He has been using modern agri techniques. At the end Mr. Adam Khan Wazir appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department especially Dr. M. Anwar Khan for his keen interest in the development of agriculture in the devastated area.
