KHYBER: People from different walks of life in Jamrud demanded the police department to release their elders,Malik Naseer Ahmad Afrid and Said Ghajan Afridi detained by police yesterday.
It is to be stated here that on Tuesday, Malik Naseer Ahmad Afridi his colleagues were apprehended on the direction of the District Police Officer (DPO) when they visited the office.
As per the police official, the detainees were wanted to police in various First Information Report (FIRs) lodged against them in the near past.
In a protest rally organized on Wednesday at Bab-e-Khyber, Jamrud, the tribesmen disapproved the arrest of their elites and said DPO, contrary to the tribal traditions, apprehended his visiting guests.
Addressing to the protestors speakers including Barkat Afridi,district head of Jamat-e-Islami Shah Faisal Afridi,Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam leader Said Kabeer Afridi,President Zwan Koki Khel Organization Daud Afridi,Khan Wali Afridi and others categorically condemned arrest of Malik Naseer and Said Ghajan and said their elites were innocent and nothing wrong had done to arrest them.
They blamed that fake FIRs have been lodged against the elders to restrain them of winning basic rights for their co-tribal.
The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other concern highup had promised them to withdraw all allegedly fake FIRs against their elites, but they could materialize their promise that was injustice to them.
They threatened that if the apprehended persons were not set free in three days then they would initiate indefinite agitation against it.
