KHYBER: Residents accused the crew of grid station, Landi Kotal for unscheduled and prolonged power off in a protest rally held on Tuesday.
Under the banner of Qaumi Masail Committee, a protest demonstration against unscheduled load shedding was organized in front of the grid station that was attended by the office bearers of the Committee besides general masses.
Addressing on the occasion, speakers including Kaleemullah Shinwari, Zahid Shinwari, Malik Shaoor Afridi and others criticized the grid station officials for constant electricity off and said the officials deliberately suspended the power supply to tease the dwellers of the area.
They said that previously, the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) high ups had promised them for the provision of four hours electricity supply to the locals round the clock but ironically, the grid station crew members declined to materialize the pledge for a long time.
Prolonged and unscheduled power off multiplied problems of the residents, they remarked.
They threatened that if the electricity supply was not resumed in near future then they had no other option but to initiate indefinite agitation against the WAPDA.
The protesters while carrying placards inscribed with statements like “honor four hours power supply accord”, “resume electricity to the poor” etc., chanted slogans against grid station and WAPDA officials and dispersed peacefully.
