MIRPUR-AJK: People’s life in several sections of AJK were severely disrupted on Thursday by torrential rain and a significant amount of snow.
The top regions, especially the Leepa and Neelam valleys, have been badly hit, with the sixth day in a row experiencing the season’s most intense snowfall, according to Official Sources.
In addition, the bad weather has caused traffic to be suspended on the Mahmood Galli – Abbaspur road in Poonch division, as well as in the snow-covered Leepa and Neelam valleys.
Officials have confirmed that the severe snowfall has made several sections of these routes impassable. For the fifth day in a row, daily life in the snow-covered Leepa and Neelam valleys has been disrupted by the power outage, making the situation worse.
The afflicted districts are facing more hardships as a result of the persistent heavy snowfall. The first strong, sporadic rains and snowfall of the season have badly damaged areas of the hilly state capital, Bagh districts, and the higher reaches of the Neelam and Leepa valleys.
There have been major interruptions to land routes in several places due to the severe effects. On Wednesday night, the much-awaited torrential downpour finally reached several areas of AJK, including the districts of Mirpur and Muzaffarabad, the state’s capital.
There have also been reports of disconnections caused by landslides brought on by heavy rains in the highest parts of the Bagh district, mainly in Sudhangalli, which are covered in snow. On the other side, Mirpur saw heavy rain and sporadic wind storms on Wednesday for the second day in a row.
Because of the intense rain that was periodically falling in different areas of AJK, the construction workers are also thought to be the most impacted group. Experts predict that the upper areas of AJK will see further snowfall and rain over the course of the next 24 hours.
