Islamabad: In the first eight months of the financial year 2023-24, tobacco exports have increased by 32.09 percent compared to exports in the previous month.
According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the country’s tobacco exports were $60,581 million during July-February (2023-24) against US exports of $45,863 million during July-February (2022-23).
In quantitative terms, tobacco exports increased by 3.80 percent from 16,742 metric tons to 17,378 metric tons.
Meanwhile, tobacco exports decreased by 50.62 percent in February 2024 compared to the same month last year.
Tobacco exports from the country in February 2024 were recorded at $4.132 million compared to $8.368 million in February 2023.
According to PBS data, tobacco exports decreased by 64.17 percent in February 2024.
It may be noted here that exports from the country increased by 8.93 percent in the first 20 months of this fiscal year (2023-24) compared to the same period last year.
Exports from the country increased to $22.914 billion in July-March (2023-24) against $21.036 billion in July-March (2022-23), showing an increase of 8.93 percent.
On the other hand, the country’s imports decreased by 8.65 percent to $39.944 billion compared to last year’s $43.724 billion.
