KARACHI:- In its continued efforts to promote a safe and positive online environment, TikTok has unveiled its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the first quarter of 2024. This release highlights TikTok’s unwavering commitment to transparency, safety and inclusiveness, reflecting its commitment to building of trust and providing a secure platform for its global community.
Between January and March 2024, TikTok’s proactive measures resulted in the removal of 166,997,307 videos worldwide, representing about 0.9% of all videos uploaded to the platform. A substantial portion of these, 129,335,793 videos, were identified and removed using automated detection technologies, while 6,042,287 videos were recovered after further review.
In an effort to increase transparency, TikTok has now published for the first time the number of comments removed and filtered by our comment safety tools. During this three-month period, TikTok removed and filtered 976,479,946 comments using comment security tools.
In Pakistan alone, the platform took action against 20,207,878 videos for violating Community Guidelines in the first quarter, underscoring its commitment to effectively combating violations. In addition, TikTok aggressively monitored spam accounts and related content and implemented robust measures to prevent the proliferation of automated spam accounts.
Notably, approximately 93.9% of videos that violated the guidelines were removed within 24 hours of being posted, and the proactive removal rate for the quarter reached an impressive 99.8% globally. In a global effort to protect younger users, TikTok also deleted 21,639,414 accounts suspected of belonging to individuals under the age of 13.
The TikTok Community Guidelines are carefully crafted to cultivate an environment that is safe, inclusive, and authentic for all users without exception. The guidelines are applied uniformly across all content and users, and TikTok strives for consistency and fairness in its enforcement actions.
