Where has the world reached in the provision of civic facilities while our people are still standing in long queues to collect and correct electricity bills? The irony is that most of the governments have been unable to provide the facilities despite the heavy taxes imposed.
On the contrary, according to the news from various Asian countries including the neighboring country India, the citizens there collecting passport, identity card and other official documents like domicile etc. at their door steps.
In these countries many important facilities have been launched to provide services to the citizens at home. Due to which many eases have been created in the life of the cities there. In these countries, the representative of any government department comes to the house, completes the official documents besides provides the required docs to the citizens by post while we still have an outdated system. It takes a week to make even a simple domicile. Which has ruined the life of the citizens. Citizens across the province including the provincial capital Peshawar are facing difficulties in making passports. The past several month’s citizens have been facing difficulties in obtaining passports. Even on urgent fee the passport is received after three months due to which the citizens are protesting.
Especially the life of the citizens who come to get their passports in Ramadan has become miserable. The citizens have demanded from all the higher authorities including the interior minister that the problems faced by the director general office Islamabad in providing passports should be removed so that the citizens can get normal and urgent passports during their term.
It is to be remembered that from the previous caretaker government to the establishment of the new government, the citizens have ignored hundreds of complaints in this regard to the higher authorities but the citizens’ time and money are being wasted due to the negligence of the central passport office.
The senior citizens of Peshawar have demanded that at least a method of renewing support at home or online should be devised for them so that they can get rid of standing in long queues in extreme heat and cold.
Although there may be many reasons including increasing rush at the official level but removing them is necessarily the responsibility of the government. In particular our interior minister should take notice of this and talk to the central and regional offices about the problems faced by the citizens so that steps can be taken to bring out the real facts and home facilitation can be provided. If seen the citizens are still paying a huge fee for a simple passport copy. Therefore if the citizens are freed from these long queues by increasing the fee slightly, what is wrong with it?
On these questions the federal government needs to think on modern era facilities. The main reason for this is that the current coalition government in which most of the political parties are represented claims that it has brought the spirit of serving the people and will deliver the citizens in these difficult situations, but here citizens are asking for convenience at their pocket expense. In this way the acquisition of an identity card is also for an ordinary citizen who is about to cry for the moon.
In these offices, elderly ladies and gentlemen stand in long queues all day long and keep begging the government and the administration. Where there is no arrangement for stings of the citizen’s. Therefore the solution to all these problems is the same that at least the system of identification, domicile and passport should be developed on modern lines so that the citizens can breathe a little more batter. It is hoped that the federal government will spare no minute in taking long-term measures to resolve the grievances faced by the people from the above-mentioned departments in the country while the Minister of Interior will intervene in this matter and will give the proof of his honesty.
