As her party began its election campaign in Okara on Monday, PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz made a clear allusion to the PTI when she stated that an electoral emblem could not be assigned to a “terrorist party.”
The PML-N is finally going to release its manifesto for the general elections on February 8 after much delay. The party’s more than thirty subcommittees have been meeting for the past two months in order to draft its election manifesto.
An insider had previously informed Dawn that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif was offended by his party being called the “favourite” of the establishment, an image he fervently wished to refute throughout the election campaign.
Furthermore, the PML-N’s protracted discussions with the PML-Q and Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP) regarding ticket distribution and seat adjustments were the main reason for the delay in the polls campaign’s beginning.
Without referring to the PTI, Maryam remarked, speaking to party supporters in Okara today, “Sher [the tiger] can be allotted sher, but a terrorist party cannot be allotted an election symbol like other political parties.”“You say your electoral symbol was ‘bat’, no, it was the danda [baton] that you had in your hand. The danda that you employed against the people and the government of Pakistan,” Maryam asserted.

Her comments are made in the days following the PTI’s loss of its recognizable “bat” election symbol.
“The entire country witnessed your attack on military installations with a danda, not a bat. Tell me, what is your electoral symbol?” She asserted, “It ought to have been the watch you took or the gasoline bomb you used to attack the police.
The leader of the PML-N declared that a political party could not rig the country’s internal elections and “escape without any consequences.”
Maryam said of Imran Khan, “It’s not his fault; he was used to being a ladla [blue-eyed].” She didn’t take any names, though. “He was used to getting bails […] he was used to facilitation. However, neither the facilitators nor the facilitation are left, the accuser stated.
