SWAT: Department of Media & Communication Studies organized a workshop on “Challenges to the Social Media Users in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” here at the TV studio on Tuesday.
The event, which was part of the awareness series that we are conducting in light of the decision taken in Apex Committee Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was held on the directive of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher. Dr. Jamal Ud Din, Dr. Rafi Ullah, and Mr. Amjad Hilal was the keynote speaker.
Mr. Amjad Hilal, Assistant Professor at the Department of Law and Sharia, highlighted the laws relating to the media and urged the students to contribute their journalistic role in professional ways. He said that journalists must keep themselves aware of the relevant laws, adding that understanding the legal perspectives will help journalists in promoting their journalistic skills.
Earlier, addressing the workshop, Dr. Jamal Uddin, In- Charge of the Department of Media & Communication Studies, said that social media, which is an interactive platform for individuals, can be used positively when the users, especially students, take care of the cultural norms and values on one side and apply the journalistic values on the other. He said that it is necessary to look at the possible impact of the social media content before publishing it. He urged the students to play their role in the broader perspective of national interests and avoid controversy relating to any field of life, including politics.
Dr. Rafi Ullah, who was a resourse person, and Mr. Waqar Ahmad, visiting lecturer at the DM&CS were also present at the occasion.
