SWAT: Upon the directives of Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold Medalist), Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, Pakistan’s Defense Day (Youm-e-Difa) was celebrated on September 06, 2024, here at Main Campus, Charbagh organized by the Society for the Promotion of Social Sciences, Social Welfare and Awareness, & YDC, University of Swat. Faculty, staff, and students were in attendance including Dr. Imran (In-Charge, Department of Social and Gender Studies and Organizer of the Event), Dr. Sarfaraz Khan (Assistant Professor/Head of Pakistan Studies), Dr. Haider Ali (Associate Professor and Director, CPS&B, UoS), Dr. Lutfullah Saqib (Associate Professor and Chairperson, Law & Sharia, UoS), Dr. Jamal Uddin (Assistant Professor & Head, M&CS, UoS), Dr. Rafi Ullah (Lecturer/PRO/Head of Urdu Department).
Celebrating September 06, a day Seminar and Walk was held at Main Campus, Charbgah. The event started with the recitation of a few verses of the Holy Quran by Mr. Komail (Student of BS Sociology, DS&GS, UoS). Besides, Prof. Dr. Najeeb Ur Rahman (Dean, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, UoS) delivered the message of the Hon. Vice Chancellor, University of Swat that we understand the value of education in creating a resilient and powerful country. In addition to guarding our borders, our military forces uphold the virtues of discipline, commitment, and patriotism. As we prepare our students to make meaningful contributions to the advancement and development of the country, these are the very principles that we work to instill in them.
Dr. Sarfaraz Khan as the resource person of the event added that September 6th stands as a symbol of our nation’s unity, determination, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding our sovereignty. He highlighted the detailed dynamics concerning September 06 and the bravery of our soldiers in the historic victory of Pakistan against India.
The Chief Guest applauded the efforts made by the organizers of the event and Dr. Imran (Assistant Professor of Sociology & In-Charge, Department of Social and Gender Studies, UoS) and also paid thanks to Dr. Sarfaraz Khan for enlightening the participants regarding the historic day of Pakistan. In the end, Faculty, staff, and students participated in a Walk concerning Defense Day (Youm-e-Difa).
